Karen Holden is a poet, artist and educator.
Published widely, her work crosses disciplines. Her most recent book “This Music” is comprised of poems written in response to classical, jazz and alternative music. “Book of Changes” is a volume of 64 poems based on the ancient Chinese “I Ching” and the limited edition artists’ book “How Love Comes Home: Los Angeles in Four Voices” weaves family story into the history of Los Angeles through poetry, essay, and image.
She has been commissioned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to write poems to artworks in the permanent collection and was privileged to speak at TEDxCSULB where she recalled her life’s journey in “The Poem That Is My Life.”
Karen teaches creative and persuasive communication at schools, museums and conferences, was on the faculty of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, and was Poet-in-Residence at the Long Beach Museum of Art, among other adventures.
